ಡಬ್ಬಿಂಗ್ ಬೇಕೇ ಬೇಕು

ತಮಿಳು, ತೆಲುಗು, ಹಿಂದಿ, ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ವಿಶ್ವದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ನಡಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಲಿವುಡ್-ಬಾಲಿವುಡ್ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ಬಿಡಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಶಂಕರ್ ನಾಗ್ ಅವರ ‘ಮಾಲ್ಗುಡಿ ಡೇ’ಸ್ ಸಹ ಕನ್ನಡಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡಕ್ಕಾಗಲ್ಲ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲ ಕರಣ ಸುಮಾರು ೫೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಾಲ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಡಬ್ಬಿಂಗ್ ಬ್ಯಾನ್. ಇವೆಲ್ಲರ ಮಧ್ಯೆ #ಡಬ್ಬಿಂಗ್ ಬಾನ್ ಅಂತಹ ಒಂದು ಹೋರಾಟದ ಮೂಲಕ ಕೆಲವು ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರಗಳು ಕನ್ನಡಲ್ಲಿ ಡಬ್ ಆಗಿ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ  ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಪವನ್ ಶ್ರೀನಾಥ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸೂರ್ಯ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ್ ಬಿ ಎಸ್ ಅವರು, ಮುನ್ನೋಟದ ವಸಂತ್ ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಹರಿವು ಕ್ರಿಯೇಷನ್ಸ್ ಿನ ಗೌತಮ್ ಹೆಗ್ಡೆ ಜೊತೆ, ಡಬ್ಬಿಂಗ್ ಮೂಲಕ ಕನ್ನಡದಕ್ಕೇ  ಒಂದು ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮ ನೀಡುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. 

Why can’t Kannadigas watch the new Avengers movie in Kannada? Why isn’t even Shankar Nag’s Malgudi Days not available to watch in Kannada? Kannada and Kannadigas have suffered from an illegal, unconstitutional ban on dubbing into Kannada, that is over 50 years old. The dubbing ban has been steadily contested by a #DubbingBeku movement, where multiple films have finally been dubbed into Kannada, and a dubbed movie was released in over 100 theatres in the state in 2018. Hosts Pavan Srinath and Surya Prakash BS speak to Vasant Shetty of Munnota and Gautham S Hegde of Harivu Creations, who have been at the forefront of this marathon to transform entertainment in Kannada, and eventually transform Kannada as a language.
