The events surrounding Chandrayaan-2’s landing attempt captured India’s imagination earlier this month. This also gave us a reason to talk about Space on Puliyabaazi again. In our previous episode on space, we discussed the story of ISRO. In this episode, we explore the world of rocketry — the enabling technology for space exploration. Joining us in this conversation is Divyanshu Poddar, co-founder of Rocketeers — India’s first solid fuel-powered model rocket kit manufacturer.

Some themes that came up during our conversation:

  1. What is the economics of rockets?

  2. What is qualitatively different about a rocket that takes us to Low-earth orbit, Geostationary orbit, Moon, and Mars

  3. What is the economic potential of space? What has changed now that startups can do rockets instead of nation-states?
